ICC23 Poster Presentation Instructions

For ICC23, Poster presenters have two On-site presentations: 1) a short 1-minute slide preview of their work on Wednesday at 11:45 AM, and 2) a 1.5 hour poster-board discussion during the general 1:15 to 2:45 PM poster presentation session in the Memorial Union's Main Lounge (2nd floor).

Preview Presentation Instructions

Each poster presenter is asked to summarize the results of their work in a brief one-minute oral presentation during the oral preview portion of the poster session.  This oral preview session takes place in the Great Hall (4th floor), before lunch and preceding the general poster-viewing session after lunch in the Main Lounge (2nd floor).

The purpose of this oral preview is to introduce the author and the subject to the conference participants — NOT to make an entire oral technical presentation.  The one-minute designation has been shown to be adequate for a preview/introduction, but the presenters must use their skills and careful preparation to make this time effective.  Craft the one-minute presentation as if it were a one-minute commercial for television.  Because of the volume of papers to be presented in the oral preview session, the one-minute time limit will be strictly enforced by the session chairpersons.

Poster authors are requested to line up at the end of session 7 to the west of the stage in the order of the poster number, beginning with 8.1 - 8.4, followed by 9.1 - 9.6, followed by 10.1 - 10.5, followed by 11.1 - 11.6.  The one minute previews will be presented in the same order.

Each presenter is requested to form the oral preview presentation around two to three slides.

Slide 1:   Title of paper, authors and affiliations, and statement of objective and purpose of the work.

Slide 2:   A significant result or piece of data (graph, photo, table, etc.)

Slide 3:   Statement of significant results and /or conclusions.  This should be in bullet form rather than lengthy text.

Remember, the objective of the oral preview presentations is to interest the participants in engaging in further conversations and technical exchanges with the author.  Following the oral preview session and lunch, authors are required to be present at the location of their poster to answer questions and describe the details of their work to interested individuals.

Preview Slide File Format, Naming and Submission

Preview slides should be in either PDF or PowerPoint (*.ppt or *.pptx) format.  PDF is preferred to avoid any font-related issues.  Authors are required to upload electronic versions of their presentation to the Author Upload Site between May 6 and June 2, 2024.  Early submission is highly encouraged to allow early proofing of your successful uploads and linking to the conference website.

Your submitted files should be named with your paper number and name in the following format:

    SLD_Paper number_Author last name_date. filetype

      For example:           SLD_5-1_Ross_DY-MM-YR.PDF

Just like the Oral Presentation slides, these Poster Preview slides will be available on the ICC website starting around June 2, 2024, and extending two months after the conference.

      Poster Board Presentation Instructions

Poster boards are located in the Main Lounge area on the 2nd floor of the Memorial Union and will be available for viewing during the whole day on Wednesday, June 5th.  We encourage all poster session authors to put up their posters Wednesday morning anytime after 8 am, and to leave them on display during the entire day. The formal presentation time extends from 1:15 to  2:45 PM on Wednesday. Posters must be removed by 5:00 pm on Wednesday; poster material not removed will be destroyed.

      Poster Design and Mounting Provisions

Individual poster boards provide a mounting area of 4 feet high by 4 feet wide, and material should be readable from a distance of six feet (2 meters).  Lettering in text and figures should be at least 0.25" (6 mm) high; the poster title should be in letters at least 1" (25 mm) high.  Display materials can be attached using push pins that will be provided at the poster boards.

The ICC23 paper number will be mounted by Conference personnel at the top of each poster board, outside of your mounting area.
